Louisville Slugger 2012 TPX (-3) Z-1000 Baseball Bat

Product Description

Amazon.com
Designed for high school and college players, the Louisville Slugger Z-1000 baseball bat brings new meaning to the word "performance." From the earliest days of the game, Louisville Slugger has employed the most powerful technology in the bat business. Back in the days of Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth, that meant putting the most skilled craftsmen at the lathe, where they handcrafted bats to the most demanding specifications of the world's most demanding players. Today, it means applying the latest aerospace technology to bat making, delivering high-tech aluminum, hybrid, and composite bats for youth, high school, college, and senior leagues.
The Z-1000 is made using Louisville Slugger's Swing1 inner disc (S1iD) barrel technology, which allows the barrel to flex to its maximum allowable performance level from your very first swing. Inside the barrel is a "governor" that's positioned at the sweet spot to stop the barrel from flexing past the performance limit. The precise positioning of the iD within the barrel also extends the sweet spot over a much larger area, resulting in a more reliable, more powerful swing. The Z-1000's high-strength, lightweight graphite fibers also allowed Louisville Slugger to reduce the wall thickness of the barrel. By using more layers in the barrel for added strength while maintaining a thinner overall profile, the company improved the bat's performance while maintaining its durability. The bat is "game ready" from the moment you take off the wrapper.
Other features include a 31/32-inch tapered handle with a synthetic grip, a 2-5/8-inch barrel, a Louisville Slugger end cap, and a -3 weight-to-length ratio. Available in lengths ranging from 31 to 34 inches (with weights from 28 to 31 ounces), the Z-1000 meets all college and high school BBCOR bat standards. Each Louisville Slugger bat comes with an industry-best one-year warranty.
About Louisville SluggerIn many ways, the rich 120-year history of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat began in the talented hands of 17-year-old John A. "Bud" Hillerich. Bud's father, J.F. Hillerich, owned a woodworking shop in Louisville in the 1880s when Bud began working for him. Legend has it that Bud slipped away from work one afternoon in 1884 to watch the Louisville Eclipse, the town's major league team. After Pete Browning--the Eclipse's star who was mired in a hitting slump--broke his bat, Bud invited him to his father's shop to make a new one. With Browning at his side giving advice, Bud handcrafted a new bat from a long slab of wood. Browning got three hits using the bat the next day. Browning told his teammates, which began a surge of professional ballplayers visiting the Hillerich shop.
Although J.F. Hillerich had little interest in making bats, Bud persisted, eventually registering the name Louisville Slugger with the U.S. patent office in 1894. In the early 1900s, the company was one of the first to use a sports endorsement as a marketing strategy, paying Hall of Famer Honus Wagner to use his name on a bat. By 1923, Louisville Slugger was the selling more bats than any other bat maker in the country, with such famed clients as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Lou Gehrig. In the ensuing years, the company has sold more than 100 million bats, and 60 percent of all Major League players currently use Louisville Sluggers. The company now sells far more than bats, including fielding and batting gloves, helmets, catchers' gear, equipment bags, training aids, and accessories.

Customer Reviews

This Louisville Slugger 2012 TPX Z-1000 bat is beyond my wildest dreams.
First and for most this bat is the perfect length and weight for me (6'2" - 235 lbs). Some may find the bat to be a bit heavy and slow on the swing, so I'd suggest going with the 32"/29 version. With each swing you can tell they spent an amazing amount of time and effort designing this bat. And the grip right out of the box is great, no need to regrip it.
The sweet spot on this bat is more like a sweet zone, much larger than I expected and with minimal vibration and flex felt in the handle. And the balls just pop right off the face of the bat with an amazing "ping".
Without a doubt this is an engineering marvel in terms of bat technology. The price tag may seem a bit steep, but it's worth the investment 100%!

My grandkids are the ball players. They say this bat has nice grips, good balance, and they like the sound when they hit the ball. It seems to be an excellent product.

Louisville Slugger 2012 TPX BB12EX2 (-3) Exogrid 2 Baseball Bat;.

Product Description

Amazon.com
The BBCOR certified -3 drop Exogrid 2 Baseball Bat is ready for high school and college competitive play with a stiff handle design for greater power at the plate. The Exogrid combines one-piece construction and carbon composite inserts to increase handle stiffness and deliver greater flex in the barrel for longer hits--all while meeting BBCOR bat standards.

The Exogrid 2 is designed for greater power at the plate with a stiff handle design.Features and Specifications:
  • AC21 Scandium alloy/composite hybrid
  • Power Disc Technology
  • Patented Pro Cup end cap
  • 2 5/8-inch barrel
  • -3 length to weight ratio without grip
  • 31/32-inch tapered handle
  • Synthetic grip
  • Meets college and high school BBCOR bat standards

Exogrid Technology: Exogrid Technology is designed to build power and performance into the bat through stiffness and strength. Exogrid combines one-piece construction and carbon composite inserts for handle stiffness, that keeps the handle from flexing upon impact. Because the stiffer handle does not flex upon impact, increased flex in the barrel offers a greater trampoline effect.
  • Internal Carbon Composite Sleeve: The heart of the Exogrid is the carbon sleeve, which provides greater handle stiffness than aluminum alone could. Uni-directional fibers run the full length of the handle.
  • Carbon Composite Inserts: Metal is trimmed in a grid pattern, then replaced with carbon composite inserts that are several times stronger and lighter than the metal they replace.
  • Exogrid Bi/Fusion Process: Using a combination of heat and extreme pressure, the sleeve, inserts, and metal wall are bonded to function as a single, solid unit.

TPX Louisville Slugger BB12EX2 -3 EXOGRID 2 meets BBCOR bat standards. AC21 Scandium alloy and Exogrid 2 Hybrid Handle technology create the stiffest handle on the market which provides greater barrel flex and greater performance. Internal Power Disk Barrel Technology allows the barrel to flex to the mamimum allowable performance limit of .50 BBCOR. The Exogrid Power disks are made of lightweight composite materials allowing the barrel to flex while also reducing weight. Competitor internal disks are made of steel and thus are heavier and do not allow the walls to flex to the performance limit of .50. Unlike other BBCOR models the Exogrid 2 has a very blananced swing weight, greater barrel flex and better performance, the closest performance to a BESR bat you can find.

Product Features

  • High-performance high school/college baseball bat with -3 length to weight ratio

  • AC21 Scandium alloy/composite hybrid construction

  • One-piece construction and carbon composite inserts for handle stiffness

  • 31/32-inch tapered handle; 2 5/8-inch barrel; patented Pro Cup end cap

  • BBCOR Certified for high school and college play; one year warranty

Customer Reviews

This was an early BBCOR purchase for us for one of our players who needed to go to BBCOR early this past summer for a college prep league. It is better than the 2011 that his teamates brought. From what our players said after using all our team bats this fall it falls in the middle of the pack. From louisville our players slightly preferred the Exogrid and significantly preferred the Z1000. Compared to other manufacturer's 2012 BBCOR they used they far preferred this bat to the Easton Rival or Omen in both balance and pop and liked it less than the Rawlings 5150 (their favorite bat). Nobofy showed a preference between the Louisvilles and Demarini.
